The Montgomery County (MD) Planning Board has begun a search for an experienced and creative leader for one of the nation's premier parks departments. With an annual operating budget of over $95 million, a six-year capital budget of $178 million, and an authorized staff of more than 600 park professionals, Montgomery Parks has responsibility for over 420 conservation and recreation parks on more than 35,000 acres – 12% of the county’s total landmass. The Department has a wide variety of responsibilities including planning and stewardship, development, maintenance, management, and operation of all of the amenities, facilities, cultural and historic resources, and protected natural areas in the park system.
