Planning Board to Consider Dog Exercise Areas on June 27

 

Nine sites, portions of regional and local parks scattered throughout the County, are being considered for dog exercise areas: 

Ø             the former Bonifant Landfill,

Ø             Black Hill Regional Park (near the boat ramp)

Ø             Cabin John Regional Park (near the handball court)

Ø             Centerway Local Park (northwest of the athletic fields)

Ø             Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreational Park (adjacent to the swim center entrance)

Ø             Olney Manor Recreational Park (south of the aquatic center parking lot)

Ø             Ridge Road Recreational Park (in the gasoline right-of-way)

Ø             Water’s Landing Local Park (south of the playground)

Ø             Wheaton Regional Park (behind the tennis facility)

 

Development of these facilities will only occur with the partnership between the Department of Park and Planning and an interested “dog owner group” (DOG).

The Maryland State Highway Administration and the Maryland Transit Administration are holding a location/design public hearing to formally present the results of the engineering and environmental studies for the I-270/US 15 Multi-Modal Corridor Study.  The public hearing will provide an opportunity for interested persons to offer verbal or written comments for consideration as part of the project record.  Maps and other exhibits depicting the study alternates will be on display prior to the hearing presentation and public testimony.
